Summer 2017

Welcome to the Summer Session of 2017!  In (way too many) posts below, I’ve outlined many of the things that will help you to succeed with your photography classes; if you have time, please read them.  One of the things about summer that is unique is the quick pace of the classes.  Please make sure you will have the time to complete the assignments because there is very little flexibility in the schedule.  Also, I understand that there are many reasons for taking this class, and that you may not be looking at a career in photography, but please understand, this course is designed as a college level photographic art class, and as such, will be taught with the intent of pursuing a career in the photographic arts; take what you can from it.  Mostly, take it seriously, but have fun!

Welcome to the Spring Semester 2017!

Here you will find all the links to the classes I’m currently teaching and other helpful information.  Here are some helpful hints for success in my classes:

• Bookmark this page and return to it frequently to make sure you are up to date with any changes or notices.  Things happen and adjustments must be made.
• Take notes and do the work.  Most people who failed did so because they didn’t turn in work or they were not paying attention during lectures or demos.
• Invest early, not after you make a mistake.
• Get it done early just in case calamity befalls you.
• Stay well.  Your illness does not change the amount of time we have to complete the work.
• Recognize that your grade is earned by you, what you put into the class and the work, and is an assessment of your skills and academic effort.
• Remember, you are doing this to become a better artist, not just a button pusher.
• Also, remember that this is supposed to be fun, so don’t get too hung up on the tech.

I’m sure there is more that I am forgetting, there always is…
